Thursday I met up with Philippa and the the homos from the Home Office LGBT (Spectrum). It was really good, got chatting away to a a few people, some of which work in our London office.

Friday I got some details of my first assignments with my new secondment in the Centre of Excellence. My new manager, Pauline, seems very organised, I think I'm going to enjoy working with her. I know that she was definitely the best in her team in her previous job.

[info]sarah_elton is visiting this weekend. Yesterday we went to Lyme Park which was stunning (the famous scene in Pride & Prejudice 1995 where Darcy emerges from a lake was filmed there). I loved walking around the house taking the sights in. There was also a huge garden to walk around which despite being October, was still very green, just not many flowers. We did the traditional English thing and had tea and scones, followed by an Indian take away in the evening.

Went to Leeds on Saturday to see my older brother and his wife. We had a nice meal in an Italian restaurant, portion size was far too big!

On Sunday we bought some food from the Chinese supermarket and went to the cinema with Miriam. We saw An Inconvenient Truth. It's well worth watching the movie, it really sends the message home and has some practical suggestions on things you can do.

Here's a video clip that I couldn't quite figure out. Is this acting , is Britney rather dim, or under the influence of something. Watch the twitches!

Had a fantastic time in London over the last few days. Had been there with work but got to go out for Monica's birthday. I've been working with Monica for the last few months and she's such a cool girl to know. Whilst out I got chatting lots of people, two of which were gay. It was nice to make some gay friends at work - I think they're the first gay people I've met at work in a very long time. I used to know a few gay guys when I worked on the evening shift but I've not met any lately, just thought they were all hiding. That said, it's a bit scary how I just don't really seem to have friends outside of work anymore!

We are now home owners!

The house is perfect! The previous owners, Lynne and Steve have left us with a spotless house. Lynne cried when she gave us the keys, she said "I hope you are as happy in this house as we've been in the last 12 years". It was all a bit emotional. We still can't get over how clean the house has been left - we are convinced the tiles were re-grouted - never seen any that clean apart from newly laid ones. The decor isn't to our taste, but it is very well done.

The move went well, no major breakages but everyone was left bruised and strained. The washing machine was the most difficult to move - we had to take it down a flight of stairs (as our old place was a 1st floor flat). We hired a Luton box van, which James' dad drove - I had to return it the following day which was a bit scary - usually drive an Astra!

It's now all unpacking and re-building furniture. It's just so exciting. The biggest change is moving from a flat with no front door (rear access only via the alley), to a house with a front door. No more PO Box for post - we can get deliveries to the door as well as takeaways!

In case you didn't know, I'm a huge Big Brother fan, here's a run down of the news for the next series.

Big Brother 7 is due this month - it is scheduled to begin on 18th May (this is earlier than previous years, to get people hooked before Celebrity Love Island starts on ITV). Apparently there will be 100 golden ticket hidden in a KitKat wrappers - anyone finding a ticket can enter a lottery to win a chance to to enter the house as a housemate. There will be 16 contestants this year - selected from a record 25,000 applicants.

News of the World reports housemates will be: )

Probably a load of rubbish, papers usually manage to get the celebrities right but haven't known them to get members of the public right.

In true Big Brother tradition, Davina will be 'with child' and is due during the course of the show. Big Brother's Little Brother will be exclusive to E4 and Big Brother's Big Mouth will return. A new show, Big Brother's Big Brain (psychology based show) will be aired on Mondays on Channel 4 - Diary Room Uncut will also be making a return.

Oh and that LJ icon, that's the new eye for this series.

Will be out in the US on 11th June 2006 and be priced at $130 (approx £70). Nothing about a UK launch date yet. Have borrowed my friends old DS (she bought the DS lite). Mario Kart is really fun, especially when you play over WiFi with random people on the Internet. There's even a free WiFi spot in Lime Street Station!
